Gavin Lawrie > Packed up and ready to go. This was my first long trip on the Triumph ST. One of the goals of the trip was to test / shake down the bike, and to find out how it handles long trips like this.

The bike is a standard 20003 Triumph Sprint STOptional features fitted comprise these Triumph Accessories: Tall / Touring Screen; Heated Grips; hard luggage; Rack; Gel / Touring Seat; Front Mudguard Extension; Hugger; Carbon Tank Protector; DataTool System 3 Alarm.Accessories from other vendors are: Scottoiler; Autocom Pro-Rider System.
Gavin Lawrie > Another shot of the Sprint ST packed up and ready for the trip.
Gavin Lawrie > Aboard the Eurotunnel link from Folkstone in the UK to Calais in France. The service was really very good.
Gavin Lawrie > Parked outside the hotel in Mons, Belgium where I stayed on the first night. The hotel was in the middle of woodland, and very pleasant to stay in. The automatic doors that locked me out early the next morning can be seen in the background...
Gavin Lawrie > Stopped for petrol at Pirmasens in Germany. Very hot day, lots and lots of bugs in the air - so had to de-bug my visor too. Fortunately ARAL (the petrol station company) was giving away visor cleaning kits to bikers when the refueled.
Gavin Lawrie > Another shot from the petrol station in Pirmasens - this taken by some passing Dutch bikers, and the only shot of me and bike together.
Gavin Lawrie > Stopped on the Autobahn for a rest after high speed running. I reached an indicated speed over 140 mph, but mostly was cruising at about 110mph on this stretch. Fuel consumption suffered accordingly!
Gavin Lawrie > On the A8 Autobahn approaching Munich - stopping for more fuel!
Gavin Lawrie > Stopped for petrol on A8 in Germany. Note the Post-IT! navigation system on inside of fairing... worked well.
